US Military Strikes Another Drug Trafficking Vessel
The US military has announced that it carried out a strike on a drug trafficking vessel in the eastern Pacific Ocean, killing one person.
In a post on social media, the US Southern Command stated, "Intelligence has confirmed that a low-profile vessel was operating along known drug trafficking routes in the eastern Pacific and was engaged in drug smuggling." The command did not provide any evidence regarding the vessel's involvement in drug transport.
The Trump administration has stated that such strikes aim to prevent the flow of drugs into the US and to strengthen pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
