Some University Lecturers Need Serious Development, While Others Should Transition to Different Fields: Andreasyan
At the first conference of representatives from state bodies, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (ESCaS) made important statements regarding the content of education and reforms. He noted that significant portions of educational reforms are aimed at changing content, which due to its complexity cannot be implemented in a single day; however, without this process, other steps may not be effective.
The minister emphasized that all individuals involved in education have something to convey, including university lecturers. He stated that some university lecturers need serious skill development, while others should transition to different fields. At the same time, he noted that there are also good specialists, but it is essential first to define the systemic issues to further address their solutions.
Zhanna Andreasyan also touched on the idea of the Academic City, emphasizing that it is not merely an infrastructure or environment, but also a gathering of human resources through which competitiveness can be ensured. The minister added that more educated societies have more effective governance. According to him, educated citizens can make more informed decisions, including during elections, are more sensitive to mechanisms of public oversight, and stand out due to high productivity. He highlighted that an educated society creates opportunities to move towards economic development.
