Powerful Earthquake in Japan Leaves 30 Injured
At least 30 people have been injured following a 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck northeastern Japan. Thousands have been forced to evacuate their homes.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 50 kilometers, approximately 80 kilometers off the coast of Aomori Prefecture. This has also raised a tsunami risk, although the warning has since been lifted.
Service on several train lines has been suspended, leaving thousands of homes without electricity. Authorities have also warned that stronger aftershocks may occur in the coming days and urged the public to remain in a state of high preparedness for at least a week, local media reports.
