No One Believes That Russia Will Lose in Its Conflict With Ukraine, Says Belgian Prime Minister
“No one really believes that Russia will lose its conflict with Ukraine,” stated Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever in an interview with La Libre. “These are fairy tales, pure illusions,” he added.
According to De Wever, a possible defeat for Russia would be undesirable as it could lead to instability in a country with nuclear capabilities.
Speaking about the potential seizure of Russian assets in Europe, De Wever noted that in the past, a country’s sovereign assets were only frozen during conflicts and could be transferred to another country as compensation in the event of defeat. However, he deemed this scenario as highly unlikely in Russia's case.
On November 15, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk remarked that Kyiv could face defeat in its conflict with Russia due to corruption within the country. He believed that if such issues continue to emerge, it would become increasingly difficult to persuade various partners to show solidarity with Ukraine.
