Baku Presents Its Demands to Russia: We Expect an Official Apology, Says Hajiyev
The Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and head of the foreign policy department Hikmet Hajiyev discussed Baku-Moscow relations in Brussels. In an interview with EU Today, he recalled that emotional reactions and certain misunderstandings arose after the shooting down of an Azerbaijani aircraft in Russian airspace last December.
According to Hajiyev, the concerns arising from the incident were presented to the Russian leadership and discussed at the leadership level in Tajikistan. The Azerbaijani side has put forward four demands: an official apology, a comprehensive investigation of the incident, accountability for those responsible, and compensation for damages.
Hajiyev stated that resolving these issues could enable both sides to close the chapter of misunderstanding and continue their bilateral relations as friendly countries.
