Rubio Refuses to Meet with Kaja Kallas
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has declined to hold official meetings with the European Union's chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, due to her complicated relationship with the Trump administration, reports Politico.
At the end of November, Kallas stated that concessions in negotiations should only be made by Russia. Furthermore, she announced that Europe has a "clear plan" for Ukraine amid new proposals for conflict resolution from U.S. President Donald Trump.
During a press conference in Geneva on November 23, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared that the involvement of the European Union and NATO in the Ukrainian crisis resolution process is still a matter of discussion. Rubio emphasized that there are disagreements, particularly regarding the fate of Russian assets and the roles of the EU and NATO in future peace negotiations. He added that these contentious issues would be discussed in collaboration with European national security advisors.
