We Have Record Low Figures on Extreme Poverty: Arsen Torosyan
The poverty rate in Armenia for 2024 has decreased by 2 percentage points, now standing at 21.7%, compared to 23.7% in 2023. This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Arsen Torosyan, on his Facebook page, where he presented the poverty and extreme poverty figures for 2024.
‘We also have a record low figure for extreme poverty at 0.6%, down from 1.1% in 2023, which represents a decrease of 0.5 percentage points. Thus, we can state that we have the lowest poverty and extreme poverty rates in the history of the Republic of Armenia. This is also for the attention of those who, just a few days ago, claimed that the poverty rate is currently higher in Armenia,’ he wrote.
