Mandatory Health Insurance: Who Will Join and How Much They Will Pay, Avanesyan Details
The Minister of Health, Anahit Avanesyan, wrote on her Facebook page that starting in 2026, citizens earning over 200,000 drams will join the mandatory health insurance system. The annual cost of the package is set at 129,600 drams, with payments made monthly.
According to the minister, to alleviate the payment burden in 2026, the state plans to offer a number of benefits:
- Individuals earning between 200,000 and 500,000 drams will pay 1,000 drams to the Defense Fund instead of 5,500 drams, with the remaining 4,500 drams going towards health insurance. By filling out their income declaration in 2026, they will be able to receive a monthly refund of 6,000 drams.
- Individuals with salaries between 500,000 and 1 million drams will pay 1,000 drams to the Defense Fund instead of 7,500 drams, with the remaining 6,500 drams allocated to health insurance. Those submitting their income declaration in 2027 will be eligible for a monthly refund of 4,000 drams.
- Individuals earning more than 1 million drams will also be able to receive a monthly refund of 4,000 drams by filling out their income declaration in 2027.
Thus, citizens earning up to 500,000 drams will be able to save the 10,500 drams payable to the state and redirect it towards health insurance.
