"Enemies Are Gathering, Threats Are Increasing": U.S. Secretary of Defense
The U.S. Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, has stated that the current international security situation resembles that of 1939 or 1981, highlighting the rising dangers and threats.
Speaking in a public address, Austin noted that there is a growing tension and accumulation of conflicts worldwide, which could lead to large-scale crises. "Enemies are gathering, threats are increasing. Do you feel it? I feel it," he said.
The Secretary added that if the United States wants to avoid war, it must begin preparing right now. According to him, the best way to maintain peace is through strong defensive and diplomatic readiness.
It is worth recalling that World War II began in 1939, while in 1981, during a phase of escalation in the Cold War, martial law was declared in Poland, accompanied by protests and mass arrests.
