Tbilisi Criticizes European Commission's Report on Georgia
The authorities in Georgia have sharply responded to the European Commission's latest report regarding the country's progress in the process of joining the European Union. Tbilisi announced that it condemns the use of the membership issue as a political tool and expressed regret over the "biased assessments" included in the report.
The government statement notes that EU institutions have ignored the attacks and violence committed against state institutions during the local self-government elections held in Tbilisi on October 4. According to official sources, this situation once again demonstrates the selective attitude of EU institutions.
Tbilisi has expressed concerns about certain actions and statements from the European Union, indicating that they aim to influence Georgia's internal politics and contradict both the spirit of bilateral relations and common interests.
