German Chancellor Calls on Syrian Refugees to Return
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has stated that Syrian refugees residing in Germany should return to their homeland. “The civil war in Syria has ended. There is absolutely no basis for asylum in Germany, so we can begin deportations,” said Merz.
According to him, a significant number of refugees are expected to voluntarily return to Syria and take part in the country's reconstruction process.
“Those who refuse to return to Germany may face deportation in the future,” the Chancellor added.
