We Do Not Detain People for Speech: Araik Harutyunyan
I do not see the need for snap elections. This was stated by Araik Harutyunyan, the chief of staff to the Prime Minister, in a conversation with reporters.
“There can be a situation so significant that no country is safeguarded from it, but we are going to the regular elections scheduled for June,” Harutyunyan said.
In response to journalists' questions regarding whether the ruling Civil Contract party is detaining all opposition figures, and what the purpose of a campaign headquarters is, Harutyunyan replied that all those who commit offenses end up in the appropriate places.
“Our fault here is that those systems have not been reformed quickly enough for such cases to be resolved in due time, rather than a few years, so that such discussions would be rendered moot,” said the Civil Contract member, who has been appointed as the head of the campaign headquarters.
He insisted that they do not detain people for speaking out.
