I've Walked Your Daytime Path at Night: Bishop Bagrat to Civic Reporter
"I’ve walked your daytime path at night, you’re not being truthful right now," said Bagrat, the leader of the Tavush Diocese, responding to a Civic.am reporter after a meeting with repatriates. He pointed out that in relation to the case involving the vice-rector of Yerevan State University, he merely relayed information, emphasizing that it was unverified: "I said, I will come tomorrow to verify the information. I have neither insulted nor offended the person. I went, the person denied it, and after that, I did not continue. I said, ‘If you have been offended in any way, I do not hesitate to apologize,’" he stated.
Commenting on his other statement regarding Aliyev driving to Shushi while playing the song 'Noldu Pashinyan', which turned out to be false, Bishop Bagrat said, "There was a video, but then it turned out to be fake, that’s why I accepted that it was a mistake." When asked who supplies him with such erroneous information, Bagrat responded, "I could have chosen not to talk to you because you are a conduit of lies. What you write requires serious accountability. There should be no irresponsible speech in our country. I have acknowledged that there was incorrect information regarding Aliyev's video. There is no crime in that, is there? Wish everyone acted that way, but the 'Noldu Pashinyan' song does exist, right? Does Aliyev mock Pashinyan from where he sits? Yes, he does. Did Aliyev not call him a drunk clown? He did. Hasn’t he said that no kolkhoz would trust him? He has. When a leader of one country insults and mocks a leader of another, it is not just that leader’s issue; it reflects the entire nation’s image. It would be preferable that instead of discrediting and insulting me, you would direct your opinions towards the parliament and various media outlets," the Bishop noted.
