US Vice President Mocks Zelensky for Wearing a Jacket
US Vice President J.D. Vance and New York Post reporter Miranda Devine mocked Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky's wardrobe change following a dispute at the White House in February.
"He's wearing a jacket," Devine explained with a smile. Vance laughed and confirmed her words.
Until recently, Zelensky frequently attended international meetings in casual attire, including during his visit to the White House in February of this year. The Ukrainian president himself attributed this decision to the military situation, noting that he would return to formal suits after the conflict ends.
However, criticism and mockery from journalists and high-ranking colleagues led Zelensky to reconsider his views. Specifically, he wore a black jacket resembling a blazer with trousers during a meeting with US President Donald Trump in mid-October. The Ukrainian leader also donned formal attire for the NATO summit held in The Hague at the end of June, presenting himself in a dark suit and black shirt.
According to Reuters, Volodymyr Zelensky's wardrobe change was an example of "visual diplomacy."
