Former Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu Mentioned in 'Espionage' Case Involving Armen Sarkissian and Karen Karapetyan
The investigation into the 'espionage' case continues in Turkey, which includes Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. He is currently imprisoned for alleged forgery related to his university diploma. Other individuals involved in the case include his campaign team leader Nejatı Özkan, journalist Merdan Yanardağ, and several others.
During the investigation, Hüseyin Güngör stated in his testimony that the team, along with foreign experts including former CIA employee Aaron Bary, conducted political analyses and data collection. He admitted that their system could also gather information from illegal sources. This was reported by the Turkish state agency Anadolu.
According to Turkish media, during the review of Güngör's digital materials, 5,697 contacts were discovered, including high-ranking officials and former intelligence agents from various countries. Among the names mentioned, investigators identified several former Armenian officials, including former President Armen Sarkissian and former Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan.
Güngör also noted in his testimony that he had connections with former British MI6 chief Richard Moore and several other foreign figures, although he framed these as 'business relationships from the past.'
