“The process of visa liberalization with Armenia is progressing rapidly,” Ararat Mirzoyan
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Armenia and the EU are close to agreeing on an action plan, while the new roadmap has been nearly fully negotiated.
During the preliminary discussions of the 2026 state budget in the National Assembly, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that the process of visa liberalization between Armenia and the European Union is advancing quite rapidly. “I believe that the process of establishing a visa-free regime with Armenia is developing faster than in the case of several other countries. I hope we will soon see the agreed action plan and move to the implementation phase,” the minister noted.
Mirzoyan emphasized that the new Armenia-EU roadmap is 99.9% negotiated, and bilateral relations are developing at an “intensive” pace. “Sometimes we reach agreements on certain programs, but due to the deepening of relations, they quickly become outdated, and we need new, more progressive formats,” he added.
The minister also highlighted that Armenia's activation towards Europe does not contradict a balanced foreign policy. “Approaching the EU family does not mean distancing ourselves from other partners. Armenia will continue to maintain a balanced and multi-vector policy,” he stated.
