«Any Intervention in Personal Life is Unacceptable and Criminally Punishable»: Surbukh Galayan
The Minister of Justice Surbukh Galayan addressed journalists regarding the published footage where a security guard is seen removing a citizen from the church. “If there has been an act of violence, it is condemnable and punishable by law. I haven’t seen the footage, but if the incident occurred, the law enforcement agencies should investigate and respond appropriately,” the minister stated.
Galayan also commented on a personal video attributed to a representative of the Mother See that circulated on the internet recently, emphasizing: “Any intervention in personal life is unacceptable and criminally punishable. If the video is authentic, a criminal case should be initiated.” According to her, the state is obliged to protect citizens' personal lives and prevent similar incidents.
Regarding the topic of wiretapping, Galayan clarified that such measures can only be carried out based on a court decision. “Wiretapping is conducted by special services for the purpose of preventing or revealing crimes. Judicial oversight is the main guarantee for the protection of citizens,” she highlighted.
The minister added that both illegal publications and any manifestation of violence should receive legal assessment: “Everyone is equal before the law. Strict responsibility should be defined for the unlawful use or dissemination of personal data,” Surbukh Galayan concluded.
