Preparations for Putin-Trump Meeting Halted
Preparations for a potential summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump have been halted, according to NBC, referencing a senior White House official.
NBC correspondent Garrett Haake reported that the meeting planned between the leaders in Budapest has been postponed. However, he noted that a phone conversation between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Sergey Lavrov the day before was deemed effective.
Despite this, the Trump administration reportedly believes that both sides are still not sufficiently prepared to move forward with high-level negotiations. Furthermore, Axios, citing a White House official, reports that Trump has no plans to meet with his Russian counterpart in the near future.
