UK Lifts Arms Embargo on Azerbaijan and Armenia
The United Kingdom has completely lifted the arms embargo on Azerbaijan and Armenia (a prohibition on the export and import of any goods).
A statement from Minister of State for Europe and North America, Stephen Doughty, regarding the removal of the embargo has been published on the UK Parliament's website.
“On August 8, a trilateral summit was held in Washington with the participation of Trump, Aliyev, and Pashinyan. As a result, a peace agreement was initially signed, and a declaration was endorsed. The UK welcomes the progress made. In this regard, we are upgrading the level of our relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan to that of a strategic partnership in trade, security, and defense sectors. The UK is fully lifting the arms embargo for Armenia and Azerbaijan. This will help enhance cooperation in the security sector and protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries, including measures to respond to hybrid threats,” the statement said.
