New EU Border Crossing Rules Come into Effect Today
New EU border crossing rules come into effect today. The visa stamps in passports will be replaced by digital travel records for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
The following data will be collected and stored: facial photograph, four fingerprints (for individuals aged 12 and older), passport information, and dates and locations of border crossings.
Travelers will be required to undergo biometric identification even when exiting public transport. Refusal to provide biometric data may result in denial of entry.
