58 Pakistani Soldiers Killed in Clashes on Pakistan-Afghanistan Border
The Afghan government has confirmed that it attacked Pakistan in several mountainous areas along the northern border. This was reported by BBC.
A spokesperson for the Taliban stated that 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed during a "retaliatory action." The operation began in response to shelling in Kabul and in the provinces of Khost and Nangarhar.
Earlier reports indicated that Afghanistan had targeted military bases along the eastern and southern border. According to Tolo News, citing a statement from the Taliban government's Ministry of Defense, the strikes aimed at facilities used for launching Afghan drones.
Pakistan's SAMAA TV claimed that Afghanistan opened fire without any justification. Pakistan responded by destroying several Afghan positions.
The Afghan Ministry of Defense announced the conclusion of the "retaliatory action" and warned that if Pakistan violates the border again, the country's armed forces would "give a decisive response." Later, Pakistan reported the capture of 19 Afghan border positions as a result of the clashes.
