Ukraine Has 45 Days Left Before Bad Weather Hinders Its Counteroffensive, General Says

Ukraine has only about 45 days left before bad weather conditions hinder its counteroffensive against Russia, U.S. Army Chief General Mark Milley said in an interview with the BBC.

According to the general, once the rains begin, "maneuvering will be very difficult." He noted that, "This counteroffensive started about 90 days ago. The operations have gone slower than planners anticipated. These are real people in real machines fighting in real minefields, and there is real death, destruction, and collision. We still have a reasonable timeline—probably 30 to 45 days left before the weather worsens."

In the view of the American general, the battle is not over yet. "They have not completed the combat part of what they are trying to achieve. In short, we will see... It is still too early to say how this will end. They have had some success in their intentions, and that matters. Then the rains will start. It will become very muddy. At that point, maneuvering will be very difficult, and then deep winter will come, and we will see how things go from there. But right now, it is too early to say whether this counteroffensive has failed or not," he added.

Earlier, Ukraine's intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov stated that the Ukrainian counteroffensive against Russian forces would continue despite the upcoming cold weather.
