Storm of Criticism Directed at Macron
The decision of President Emmanuel Macron to reappoint Sébastien Lecornu as Prime Minister has sparked a storm of criticism, reports NZZ. Right-wing leader Jordan Bardella called it a “bad joke” and accused Lecornu of presenting a government that has “lost touch with the country.” He also urged the parliament to express no confidence in the new cabinet.
Marine Le Pen asserted that Macron is “maneuvering to cling to power.” Posts by right-wing politicians on social media spoke of “deception” and “double betrayal of trust.”
Dissatisfaction is significant even among the President's allies. Former Minister of Finance Amélie de Montchalin accused Macron of engaging in “shameful manipulations.”
