It Is a Necessity: Pezeshkian on Relocating Iran's Capital
Relocating the capital of Iran is not a choice but a necessity, President Masoud Pezeshkian stated during a meeting with investors and economic activists in Hormozgan province, commenting on one of his meetings with Iran's Supreme Leader, according to Donya E.
“During that meeting, I suggested relocating the capital to the Persian Gulf. When this issue became a topic of discussion in the media, some criticized it, but today, seeing the problems, we understand that this proposal is a necessity rather than a choice,” emphasized Pezeshkian.
According to him, the authorities will do everything possible, both in terms of powers and support, to prepare the ground for efforts and activities in the provinces.
Addressing the topic of the decentralization of power, the Iranian president stated, “We have decided to transfer powers from the center to the regions, so that we no longer have a situation where a few people sit in the capital and make decisions for different parts of the country. Powers should be transferred to the region concerned with the issue.”
