Hayk Sargsyan on Rumors of Leaving the Civil Contract Party

The elections for the board of the 'Civil Contract' party have taken place, where delegates made their choice and a new board has been formed, as stipulated by the rules. Nothing extraordinary has occurred in this regard. This was stated by Hayk Sargsyan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Civil Contract' faction, during a conversation with reporters within the framework of the 108th 'Rose-Roth' seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly starting in Yerevan, responding to the news that he was not elected to the newly created board of the party but instead, Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan was elected, with whom he had previously had a conflict.

'There was an electoral campaign, and our party members selected candidates based on that campaign as they wished. The elections were transparent and clear. Why should I be disappointed?' said the MP.

When asked whether it was possible for him to be expelled from the party, Hayk Sargsyan replied, 'Those are absurd claims; there is even no need to comment on them. Of course, I will continue my path with the Civil Contract. 41 candidates were nominated, of which 20 were elected. I received quite a few votes for which I am grateful to my party colleagues. Yes, I received a few votes less; probably, I started my campaign late. The campaign began on September 1, and I joined the campaign in the last week.' added Hayk Sargsyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction in the National Assembly.
