Armen Khachatryan on the Opportunity to Visit Armenian Prisoners Held in Baku
As relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan normalize, this will contribute to the return of our prisoners. This was stated by Armen Khachatryan, a member of the National Assembly from the "Civil Contract" party and deputy chairman of the Defense Committee, during a press briefing with reporters.
“Relations should be normalized in many cases without preconditions. I do not accept the opposition's assertion that there must be preconditions before relations begin. If we set preconditions, no relations will commence, and that will be detrimental to our prisoners,” Khachatryan said, responding to criticism from the opposition regarding the visit of the head of Armenia's National Security Service to Baku.
When asked whether the NSS Director would try to meet the prisoners, the deputy answered: “One thing is certain, if he has the opportunity to help resolve the issue of the prisoners in any way, he will definitely do it; this is a primary concern for everyone,” Khachatryan emphasized.
It should be added that the NSS Director has traveled to the capital of Azerbaijan for a two-day visit to participate in the "3rd International Security Forum."
