Torosyan on the Absence of Ararat Image in New Stamps

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Arsen Torosyan, stated on his Facebook page: "Certain opposition circles have launched a new information attack regarding a decision adopted by the government last Thursday, which defines the design of the stamp to be placed in passports upon crossing the state border of Armenia.

First, I want to say that many countries around the world have long ceased to place stamps in passports at border crossings; even with our neighboring Georgia, we can cross the border using an identification card, without any stamp, as border crossings are recorded only in the electronic system.

Besides information regarding border crossing, no other information or images, including Mount Ararat, will be present on the new stamps, as is the case with border crossing stamps in most countries around the world. The size of the stamp has also been reduced so that passports can serve frequent travelers longer.

The justifications for the decision are quite simple: the stamps have been aligned with the modern requirements presented for border crossings, as well as the concept of a Real Armenia. I am attaching the new designs of the stamps established by the decision, as well as examples of stamps from various countries in my passport, as proof of what has been stated above. I am sure many of you also have stamps from other countries in your passports," wrote Torosyan.

Earlier, according to a new decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, starting from November 1, 2025, the image of Mount Ararat will no longer be present on the entrance or exit border stamp (stamp) of Armenia. We should also note that MP Arthur Khachatryan from the “Armenia” parliamentary faction also made a post regarding this decision.
