Lavrov Outlines Conditions for Sustainable Peace in Ukraine
In order for peace to be long-lasting, the new territorial realities that have emerged after the annexation of Crimea, Sevastopol, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson to the Russian Federation must be recognized and legally formalized through international law. This was announced by Sergey Lavrov, the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“It is also necessary to ensure Ukraine's neutral, non-aligned status and gradually a nuclear-free status, meaning those conditions that were enshrined in Ukraine's 1990 declaration of independence and based on which Ukrainian statehood was recognized by Russia and the entire international community,” he stated.
