Azerbaijan Destroys Armenian Alphabet Monument in the Yard of Stepanakert School No. 1
Today, as we celebrate Knowledge and Education Day, we regret to report that the Azerbaijani occupying administration has destroyed the monument dedicated to the Armenian alphabet in the yard of Stepanakert School No. 1. This information comes from the Artsakh Tourism and Culture Development Agency.
“The destruction of monumental artworks in the occupied territories of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh has reached immense proportions, especially in the capital, Stepanakert. These facts indicate Azerbaijan's targeted policy to eliminate the cultural footprint of the Armenian people. The silence and inaction regarding these crimes is unacceptable. The Government of Armenia must raise this issue at the highest level and take real protective measures. The international community also bears direct responsibility as the guardian of cultural heritage, which is a universal value. These represent not only the cultural memory of the Armenian people but also an inseparable part of the cultural memory of all humanity. Protecting our cultural heritage must become a national and international agenda,” the statement reads.
