According to Washington's Post-War Plan, the U.S. Will Govern Gaza for at Least 10 Years

A controversial plan circulated during Donald Trump's administration suggests that the U.S. may govern the war-torn Gaza Strip for at least a decade. According to The Washington Post, the plan involves temporarily relocating the population and restructuring the area to serve as a tourism and industrial center.

According to a 38-page document reviewed by the newspaper, nearly 2 million Palestinians could leave Gaza by being "voluntarily" relocated to other countries or designated areas during the reconstruction phase.

The proposal includes the establishment of "humanitarian transit zones" both within Gaza and possibly outside its borders. The plan is titled Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) and is supported by the U.S.-operating aid foundation.

Landholders will be offered a "digital token" in exchange for their rights to property redevelopment. Each relocated individual will receive $5,000, a four-year rental subsidy, and one year of food assistance.

The initiative is referred to as the "Fund for the Rehabilitation, Economic Acceleration, and Transformation of Gaza," or "GREAT Trust." According to the UN, as of May 2025, when GHF began operations, over 1,000 people have died while attempting to receive aid, primarily due to Israeli soldiers' gunfire near GHF facilities.
