Strong Earthquake in Russia
A strong seismic event with a magnitude of 5.8 has been recorded near the coasts of Kamchatka, Russia, as reported by the Kamchatka branch of the Federal Research Center of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences on their Telegram channel.
According to the received data, the earthquake's epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean at a depth of nearly 60 kilometers. The distance from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky was reported to be 455 kilometers.
The Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences indicated that this was the strongest earthquake recorded in the last 24 hours. Observations by scientists noted that aftershocks with magnitudes of 4 to 5 had occurred 16 times in the past 24 hours. Earlier, the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations had reported that the number of aftershocks had decreased by 40% over the past week.
