2.5-Year-Old Child Dies from Dog Bite in Aknalich
A tragic incident has been reported in the village of Aknalich, part of the enlarged community of Metsamor, where a 2.5-year-old child has died due to rabies resulting from a dog bite, according to NEWS.am.
Following the incident, the child was not vaccinated against rabies. The child was transferred to the hospital 40 days later, on August 15, presenting with high fever, convulsions, and tremors. A diagnosis of rabies was confirmed.
While in the hospital, the child experienced two cardiac arrests. During the second instance, the medical team was unable to save the child's life.
In a related case, the deceased child's brother was also bitten by the same dog. The 6-year-old is currently hospitalized at Norq Infectious Diseases Hospital. Although he is showing no symptoms, he is under medical supervision to prevent potential disease progression.
The Ministry of Health urges individuals to seek immediate medical attention from local healthcare facilities in case of any dog or animal bite.
