Pashinyan Details His Discussions with President Pezeshkian
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian have made statements regarding their recent discussions.
“The Republic of Armenia and the entire Armenian people highly value Iran's clear position on the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and inviolability of Armenia's borders. The inviolability of international borders between our states and uninterrupted communication is of vital importance for both Armenia and Iran. In this context, I presented to the President the details of the joint declaration signed on August 8, as well as the pre-signed agreement on the establishment of peace and inter-state relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This process is aimed at opening great prospects for the economic development of the entire region. I am happy and thankful to President Pezeshkian for his objective assessments regarding these agreements,” said Prime Minister Pashinyan.
Addressing the agreement on the reopening of communication routes with Azerbaijan, he noted, “One of our key agreements with Azerbaijan is about reopening communication routes in the region, with complete mutual respect for the sovereignty, authority, and territorial integrity of countries. In practice, this will open new doors for railway cooperation between Armenia and Iran, including through the Nakhchivan-Julfa railway, which will mean Iranian railway access to Armenia and finally to the Black Sea. We are confident that the unblocking of regional infrastructure will serve to promote dialogue among our various partners.”
Pashinyan also assured, “The communication routes passing through Armenia will be under the complete jurisdiction of Armenia, and security will be provided by Armenia, not a third country.”
