Natural Resources Inspectorate Reports Debed River Pollution Incident to Investigation Committee
The Environmental and Mining Inspectorate received a report on August 16 regarding pollution in the Debed River.
This information was released by the Environmental and Mining Inspectorate. Inspectors from the inspectorate's Lori and Tavush regional divisions conducted an inspection along the river for several hours to identify the probable source of the pollution. They determined that a pipeline leading to the Akhtala Mining and Processing Plant's ‘Nahatak’ tailings dam had ruptured, which was the cause of the river's contamination.
Water and soil samples were taken from various points along the river. A report on the apparent crime has been submitted to the Armenian Investigation Committee.
