China Rejects US Demand to Halt Oil Purchases from Russia and Iran
The oil agreement between Iran, Russia, and China is significantly obstructing the signing of a trade deal between the United States and China. This was reported by the Associated Press.
It was noted that another obstacle in this process is China's insistence on ensuring energy security. "China is, as always, committed to maintaining its energy independence. This determination is clearly evident in a recent statement from the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Officials from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs have reaffirmed this position during the Stockholm negotiations," the article stated.
Analysts also confirm that official Beijing will not retreat from its goals. "This requires the US to change its stance towards Russia and Iran. If that does not happen, official Beijing will demand further concessions from the US," the article emphasized.
Scott Kennedy, an expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in the US, pointed out that official Beijing will use additional leverage.
