Sputnik Azerbaijan Employees' Detention Measures Remain Unchanged: They Will Stay in Custody
The Baku court has left the leaders of Sputnik Azerbaijan, Igor Kartavikh and chief editor Yevgeny Belousov, in custody. This information was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the editorial office of Sputnik.
“Today, the Baku court examined the appeals of our colleagues Igor Kartavikh and Yevgeny Belousov's lawyers regarding the change of detention measures. Unfortunately, the lawyers' appeals were rejected. The first-instance court's decision on choosing custody as a detention measure has remained in effect. Our friends continue to remain in custody,” the statement said.
It is important to recall that the Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs had initiated a criminal case against 'Sputnik Azerbaijan,' leading to several arrests.
