Nikol Pashinyan Sues 'Hraparak' Demanding Retraction and Compensation
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has filed a civil lawsuit against the newspaper 'Hraparak'. The claim was received by the civil court of Yerevan on June 4, with Judge Nelli Harutyunyan presiding over the case. According to information from the 'Datalex' platform, the plaintiff is asking the court to require the defendant, 'Hraparak' LLC, to publicly retract the defamatory factual data included in the article in the following manner: by publishing it on their website www.hraparak.am and on their Facebook page in a way accessible and visible to everyone. The title of the retraction should be phrased as follows: 'Retraction regarding the defamatory information published about Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the article titled “Is Pashinyan Cheating on His Wife?”' The content should state: 'On 06.06.2025, an article titled “Is Pashinyan Cheating on His Wife?” was published on our website www.hraparak.am. We announce that the information published in that article completely defames Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and does not correspond to reality.'
The publication should be maintained on the website indefinitely. The retraction should receive the same priority in terms of visibility as the articles containing defamatory information. The published text should not contain any other comments or notes from the defendant, only the verbatim text of the retraction as specified in the ruling. The plaintiff is also requesting that the defendant compensate him with 1,000,000 (one million) Armenian drams for the non-material damages caused by the defamation.
