Archbishop Ajapahyan Detained for 2 Months
The leader of the Shirak Diocese, Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan, has been detained for two months. Judge Masis Melkonyan of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction has also restricted Archbishop Mikayel's communications, allowing contact only with close relatives and defense attorneys.
Following the court's decision, Mikayel's defense attorney, Ara ZOhrabyan, stated that the defense team will appeal the decision.
It is noteworthy that a criminal case has been initiated against the leader of the Shirak Diocese for public calls aimed at seizing power, violating territorial integrity, renouncing sovereignty, or violently overthrowing the constitutional order.
