Mikael Archbishop Wanted to Speak with Pashinyan, Lawyer Claims
Recently, Ara Zohrapyan, the head of the defense team for Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan, announced that a decision to initiate criminal prosecution had been presented by the prosecutor’s office, under which he is accused under the second part of Article 422.
Zohrapyan noted that there has been unprecedented interference from the National Security Service and the police, with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also involved, as he made periodic remarks that, despite being inappropriate, directed investigative and judicial bodies.
“Under such heavy and inhumane pressures, it becomes very difficult to expect justice. When the investigator in the criminal case asked whether the Archbishop wanted to exercise his right to inform someone about his arrest, Archbishop Mikael stated that he wanted to inform Nikol Pashinyan,” the lawyer said.
