Bishop Bagrat Arrested
For four hours, the general jurisdiction court of Avan and Nor Nork, presided over by Judge Masis Melkonyan, examined the request for the arrest of the leader of the Holy Struggle, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan. Moments ago, the court announced its decision: Judge Masis Melkonyan decided to grant the request for Bagrat's arrest, imposing a detention period of two months.
This decision will be appealed by Bishop Bagrat's defense team. It is worth noting that the Investigative Committee has charged Bishop Bagrat with 'terrorism and usurpation of power.' He, along with several participants in the Holy Struggle, as well as political figures and clergy, have been arrested, and requests for detention have been submitted to the courts, with many already subjected to this measure of restraint.
The arrested and detained individuals do not accept the charges against them, and human rights defenders and lawyers emphasize that what is happening is political persecution.
