Former President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan has filed lawsuits against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonian, according to the Judicial Information System 'Datalex'. Both lawsuits were registered on June 13.
In the lawsuit filed against Pashinyan, Kocharyan demands a retraction of statements made during a government meeting on June 5, in which the Prime Minister stated, "The court has established that Robert Kocharyan is a corrupt individual," which was also published on the official Facebook page.
Aside from the retraction, the former president is seeking 6 million drams in compensation for non-material damages.
This case has been assigned to Judge Ani Karakehyan.
From Alen Simonian, Kocharyan demands a public apology with the following text: “During a previous briefing with journalists, I made public statements regarding former President Robert Kocharyan, with the intention of tarnishing his honor and dignity.”
Kocharyan also requires Simonian to publish a retraction on his official Facebook page and is demanding 6 million drams for defamation and 3 million drams for insults, as compensation for the non-material damages incurred. This lawsuit has been assigned to Judge Azat Dounamalyan.
