We Will Win with 50+1 Votes: Minister of Territorial Administration
“It is their right; they can do whatever they want.” This statement was made by the Minister of Territorial Administration David Khudatyan during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly, referring to the initiative by the ‘Honorable’ faction to initiate an impeachment process and to announce the name of a prime ministerial candidate.
“Numerous candidates have been nominated, including prominent representatives of the opposition from various times, and after the failure, also, so to speak, prominent clergymen who are engaged in politics. Now they are also nominating local officials. As the governing majority, we have no concerns regarding the nominations from the Republican Party. We are confident that the impeachment process will fail. We are calmly preparing for the 2026 parliamentary elections, confident that we will achieve a decisive advantage—victory with 50+1 votes,” he stated.
Khudatyan also addressed the losses in the local self-government elections: “In those elections, people made choices that were more personal. I must say that this was also related to the fact that our candidate came in first place in Gyumri. Yes, the number of votes was not sufficient, and the opposition managed to form a coalition and establish power in Gyumri. But these are local elections,” he noted.
