Georgian Authorities Tighten Regulations for Foreigners in the Country
The Georgian authorities plan to tighten the regulations regarding the stay of foreign citizens in the country. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
The executive secretary of the ruling "Georgian Dream" party, Mamuka Mdinaradze, announced that a new penalty will be introduced in the Criminal Code for the deportation of foreigners with a prohibition on entering Georgia for a specific period.
"A similar measure will also be introduced in the Code of Administrative Offenses," Mdinaradze stated during a press briefing.
He noted that there will also be a significant increase in fines for violations of stay regulations in the country, and the process of deporting illegal immigrants will be simplified.
Earlier, in mid-April, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia developed a legislative package aimed at tightening migration rules. The innovations aim to improve mechanisms for providing international protection, combat illegal migration, and prevent abuses of the asylum application process.
