Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Responds to Medinsky's Statements Regarding Artsakh
On June 9, in an interview with Russia Today, Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky made statements portraying Nagorno-Karabakh as a disputed territory and distorting facts related to the historical conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, causing regret and surprise.
This is reflected in the statement from Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry. “It is astonishing that the aide to the President of Russia and head of the Interdepartmental Commission on Historical Education, Vladimir Medinsky, seems unaware that Nagorno-Karabakh has never been a disputed territory. We remind that Nagorno-Karabakh is indigenous Azerbaijani land. Moreover, Russia itself has recognized and always recognized Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry emphasized.
