Clashes in Los Angeles: National Guard Mobilization Declared
Protests against the deportation of illegal immigrants have erupted in Los Angeles, during which clashes occurred. The police used tear gas to disperse the demonstrations. Tom Homan, the White House's immigration czar, announced that the National Guard would be deployed in the city, consisting of about 2,000 personnel.
He added that while protesters have the right to express their views, they will be held accountable if they raise their hands against officers or destroy property. California Governor Gavin Newsom stated that the mobilization of the National Guard is a provocative decision that will only escalate tensions. The governor further emphasized that there is no need to supplement local law enforcement.
Earlier, searches were conducted in Los Angeles to locate illegal immigrants, resulting in the arrest of 44 individuals. Migrant support protests have started in the city, with people taking to the streets holding signs saying, 'No one is illegal.' Some have attacked police vehicles.
