Widespread Conflict: Consequences of AI Misuse According to UN Representative
The misuse of artificial intelligence could ignite widespread conflict around the world. This was stated by Amandeep Singh Gill, the UN Secretary-General's Deputy and Special Envoy on Technology, in an interview with the Russian television channel ‘Russia 24’.
“The United Nations aims to give every country the opportunity to independently develop artificial intelligence technologies. Currently, the centers for the development of AI are unevenly distributed, so the vast majority of the population is deprived of the potential benefits of using such technologies,” he noted.
At the same time, the UN representative warned of the possible risks arising from improper use or abuse of artificial intelligence technologies. According to him, the misuse of AI could spur widespread conflict in the world, which is why the UN must monitor the situation regarding artificial intelligence to ensure a safe world and sustainable development.
