Lavrov and Rubio Hold Phone Conversation: Details
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, had a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
According to the statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the conversation addressed the situation concerning the crisis in Ukraine.
Secretary Rubio expressed sincere condolences for the casualties among civilians caused by the explosions of railway infrastructure in Bryansk and Kursk regions on June 1.
The Russian side emphasized that relevant authorities are conducting a more thorough investigation, and the results are expected to be published soon. The guilty parties will be identified and will face just punishment.
Lavrov and Rubio also exchanged views on various initiatives related to the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, including plans to resume direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul on June 2.
