State of Emergency Declared in Canada: Mass Evacuations Underway
At least 4,000 Canadians have been forced to leave their homes in Saskatchewan due to wildfires. This information was reported by CBC News.
Due to the declaration of a state of emergency, military personnel are assisting firefighters in extinguishing the fires. “This will remain the largest mass evacuation in the memory of people in Manitoba. That is why our government has declared a state of emergency across the province, so we can respond quickly to this crisis,” said the provincial governor.
Additionally, Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew announced that 17,000 people have been evacuated because of the wildfires.
