Changes Expected in Legislation Allowing Military Service Exemption for Payment, Says Alen Simonyan
Changes may be made to the legislation allowing for exemption from military service in exchange for payment. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, while commenting on the controversial bill.
“I believe the law may need some amendments, but it is a necessity for ensuring the security of the Republic of Armenia. The ultimate goal should be to have a fully professional army where individuals will serve as a profession,” said Simonyan.
He noted that existing issues within the army should be gradually addressed, and such initiatives are being discussed for that very purpose.
