Putin Signs Law for Testing Migrant Registration via Mobile App
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law for the testing of migrant registration via a mobile application in Moscow and the surrounding region. The program will begin on September 1 and will continue until 2029.
Under this law, foreign citizens will be required to register in a specialized application and provide their location information to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Migrants attempting to circumvent this control will be subject to deportation.
The initiative is expected to apply to all migrants entering Moscow and the surrounding region who do not require a visa to enter Russia. Exceptions will be made for minors, diplomats, their family members, and citizens of Belarus.
